theport Nice distro. Two questions: can we have Calamares instead of Anaconda, and is there a Gnome version coming up? The second one is probably doable by installing gnome-desktop at the terminal from the repos, right?
Thank you for the compliment, but we are only in the Beta release, of the Initial release of the first Desktop Environment. In my humble opinion we're not offering much just yet.
To jump right into your questions...
What are you looking for with Calamares feature wise that Anaconda doesn't have? I have no issue looking into other installers, but have never been impressed feature wise with a lot of the third party installers. If that's changed in the not so distant past I may look into it. I dont mind the conversation.
To answer your Gnome Question, the goal is to supply XFCE, Gnome, LXQt and Plasma/KDE but for the time being I am using XFCE to test and tweak our current build infrastructure. Once I have a decent XFCE build out the others will follow.
Now to answer your kinda question/realization, yes you could just install the gnome packages and that may suffice for you, though we will have some tweaks added in the future, they will be offered setup on the Gnome ISO releases and install able of course off our repos. But yes, it's entirely possible to just install gnome at this point.
